My Map

Pinterest is one big mood board, but I created one board on it for my vision of myself - basically creating a vision board for what I seek for myself.

Here are a few things on it....

52 Lists: Week 1

I found this via Pinterest as I follow Moorea Seal there and enjoy her blog also. She is doing a list a week for the year - 52 Lists.  I love lists so I am going to jump into this project.

Right now I am reading the book Inner Excavation by Liz Lamoreux and she suggest collecting a word toolbox. Gathering words to create poetry. So this first list is perfect for that too...the first weeks list is Words that Touch Your Soul.

The words I have on my list:  love - Michael - grace -living - stillness - joy - devotion - vibrant - laughter - star - dream - believe - feeling - spirit - celebrate - rainbow - simplicity - play - passion - kindness // journey - open - peace - friendship - family - gratitude - wholehearted - hope - mountains - acceptance - being - beauty - expressive - hearth - home - energy - sisters - understanding - giving - knowledge // vulnerable - courage - doing - truth - reality universe - touch - tea - silliness - artistry - purple - mermaid - darkness - light - enough - enchanted - faith - music - growth - possible

Join in doing 52 Lists hosted by Moorea Seal.  I love them and it has been not only fun, but really interesting exploring some areas I buried or never really noticed about myself.  #52lists2013

Christmas Treats

These are some new recipes I want to try this Christmas....

Instead of making them into pops, I think I will just do little brownie bits.

This I think I want to make and give as gifts in a mason jar.

These are microwave caramels....which seems almost impossible to me, but I would consider it a huge blessing if it was true. So I think I will try them.

Memory Jars

Last year for Christmas I made probably about 24 Memory Jars. I have had really good feedback from everyone I gave them too and they all seem to love them and are enjoying capturing memories. The idea is taking little slips of paper and writing down a memory and stuffing them in the jar. At the end of the year, you and your loved ones pull them out to celebrate the end of the year and share in those moments were created throughout the year.

I found the idea on Pinterest, but it was just a plain jar with scraps of paper. I wanted it a little more personalized for the people I was giving them too. I looked through all my craft supplies and gathered paper, beads, stickers, tags, charms, ribbon, wire, clips, rubber stamps and anything else I could find for embellishments. I will say a scrapbooking roller adhesive saved me so much time and mess.  Like this one sold at Hobby Lobby.

Before wrapping I took miniature clothes pins and clipped together a bunch of little slips of paper that said things like: enjoying life, memories, celebrating, today..., and then just little clip art of hearts, snowflakes, tropical drinks with umbrellas, sea shells and so on - so that memories could be wrote on them, folded and stuffed in the jar.   I also clipped a little tag to a bundle of those slips that said:
The Memory Jar
A family gathering, an afternoon with a good friend, just a moment in the day that made you smile or feel good... memories that mean a great deal to us, but maybe get lost with the passage of time. The memory jar holds onto those memories for us. Throughout the year, write down just a few words about that special moment in time on a piece of paper and stick it in the jar. Then - this time next year - open the memory jar and pull out your special memories to enjoy with your loved ones.

You can download the slips and the tag that I used in my jars here:  Memory Jar Slips  and  Memory Jar Tags

They are a fun gift to make - easy and inexpensive. You can give them to not only family, but friends, teachers, neighbors, clergy, and so many others.

Christmas on Pinterest....

It isn't even autumn yet technically, but I am seeing so many cute ideas on Pinterest for Christmas.....

This would be so easy and pretty as a centerpiece for Christmas.

Love this idea of wrapping up 24 Christmas books and then reading them each night so cute!

I want to do this for my niece and nephew for a stocking stuffer.

This looks so yummy! Would be cute in a jar with ribbon and tag for a gift.

Ideas for Organizing Art Supplies

I really want to make some new organization/storage solutions for my office. Here are some things would be fun and useful.....

I want to make something like this...could get cake pans from the Dollar Tree. Just not sure on the candle sticks. Maybe check Big Lots for candles sticks.

My can opener is one of those that takes the lip off and leaves a sharp edge. Maybe taping the edge so it covers the sharp edge. After taping, using paper around them to decorate.

I know I have seen these at Dollar Tree too. So having a couple on my table with my favorite ribbons or twines in them.

I always see these at the Thrift Store and Habitat for Humanity. They always look grungy but sanding and painting would make it look a little more spiffy.

This looks like a slack hanger but they don't open up so that ribbon could slide on so not sure if this specially made for ribbon - if so - good idea.

A Poem from Poet Tyler Knott Gregson

Just really beautiful words that capture the feeling of being home. I really like Tyler Knott Gregson's work.  Everything I read just touches me and says "yes" to the feelings and thoughts that go through me. Here is one I shared with Michael tonight that he enjoyed just as much as I did - gave us both that feeling of knowing the words.

Strong

Source: tumblr.com via Darby on Pinterest

As someone that lives with pain everyday, it gets hard to hang on and be strong all the time. So yes I know that feeling.  I know what is like to just keep having to hang on even though I putting so much into something. It is hard to hang on when feeling so tired and hurting so much.  I know that some days it is hard to think rinse and repeat this again tomorrow and the day after but not get any further - so tears come.

Dry Skin

Ever since moving to Colorado, my skin has issues with being dry and irritated. I mean I always have had dry and sensitive skin, but it is worse in western Colorado where it is very dry.  Add in that I am getting older and my skin is changing so I am going a little crazy.  I am can't stand spending so much money on lotion when I go through it so fast. Even though Aveeno does make it feel better and lasts longer than any of the lotions I have tried.

But I am thinking of breaking down and trying to make my own...I found a few recipes via pinterest that I might want to try so putting them here to remember...

Daydreaming

We would love to move into a new house but it just isn't in the cards right now. But it doesn't stop me from daydreaming. Here are some things I would like in our next house....and some things that I might do here.

I would really like to have a new backsplash. Although I don't think chalkboard would be easy to clean as a backsplash. I think I want tin.

I love the wide orange section on the wall. I also love the green and orange together.

Gray wall with letter on it. Just like the style of this room - the painted round table, the dark chairs, pendant lamp, letter and wall.  Even the ceiling showing....really like it.

I love all the wall art in a small space like a bathroom. I also love the charcoal gray painted walls.

In a Few Days...

In a few days, we will be having a very good friend visiting us.  I can't wait to see her and just sit and talk.  I have been crazy cleaning. It is spring cleaning with the frenzy on top of people coming to visit.  I do this when Michael's parents visit and when mine do too.

I have a menu planned and hope she feels like she is being spoiled when here.  I know she deserves to be spoiled.

I have tried a few cleaning techniques and homemade cleaners I have seen on Pinterest and they worked well. I will give a review of them later.

Meatless Meals

Something I would like to start doing is more meatless meals - even do a Meatless Monday so that dinner every Monday is meatless.

Here are a few recipes that I think would be perfect for it...

The Look

I started a new board on Pinterest recently for things that I like The Look of it...such as graphic design, package design, logos, illustrations and such.

Here are a few I have pinned for package design....I would probably at least try all these things based on package design. Not knowing anything about them - just liking their package. I have done that with music and books before too - liked the cover art and picked it up to listen/read just because of that.
