NPR Music

NPR is streaming the Sasquatch Music Festival live - listen here http://goo.gl/qPMFt I am looking forward to Death Cab for Cutie

Bright Eyes is on right now. And I am enjoying them. Conner Oberst the lead singer made some interesting anti-war/anti-killing Bin Laden comments. And the twitter-verse on NPR is going crazy over it.

Moving Forward

I am not sure what to say about last nights events. Part of me is very relieved and maybe feels some justice was served for all those he killed. I am not rejoicing or joyful. But I am hoping that there is some peace to come - certainly not as an end to terrorism as I know that isn't ending but maybe peace for some people who have had family members killed.

From the Maddow Blog:
"Since then, 2,441 coalition troops have lost their lives in Afghanistan. Another 4,770 have died in Iraq. God only knows how many civilians have been killed. We're so far from being out of this. And yet, somehow, through courage and perseverance, the wheel of history just rolled forward."

Zamboni

When we were in Keystone, the zamboni would go out and clean the ice. And there was one spot that from our window I could tell was thinner. It just looked different.

Well I guess I was right...

story here

Do you think they put that caution thin ice sign up before or after the zamboni went in?

Rockslide

On our way home in our bad snow storm Michael commented that he didn't like driving in these conditions because it causes rockslides. And sure enough they had one - luckily after we went through - and luckily no one got hurt as it is a major disaster for I-70.

Photos here and here.

Hope they get the highway up and working again soon otherwise it is a 200 mile detour.

Dr. Tiller

I just heard about Dr. George Tiller being shot. These are the things that frustrate and sadden me so much....a person was upset that he "killed babies" so took it upon himself as a "Pro-Lifer" to kill Dr. Tiller at his church on Pentacost. How can you be fight for Pro-Life and kill anyone? I don't get it. I don't understand how someone can do that no matter their beliefs.

The Tiller family's statement: "This is particularly heart-wrenching because George was shot down in his house of worship, a place of peace."

Obama's Fist-Bump

So last week when Obama and his wife Michelle did the little fist-bump who knew it would cause so much of stir? I guess I didn't. It looked like a cute affectionate gesture. But of course it is being spun other ways.

Media Matters for America though did this article about the spin with photos of other people who have done fist-bump.

Change is in Progress

Tonight I took time out of work to go listen to Obama's speech. Damn he was so good. I have heard from some say (including McCain) that Obama doesn't have the experience to be President but just listening to Obama I can say that is false. He had that presidential voice and presence that I haven't seen in a candidate before. And that is EXACTLY why he is going to be a good president. I don't want another politician. I want someone who cares about every American. And he does. I have never felt so patriotic before in my lifetime then I do when I listen to him. I am proud to be an American...I feel hope for a positive future. In the past and definitely in the last 8 years I have not been proud or positive. I have actually been so scared I had to stop reading some news.

We listened to a little of McCain early and we had to turn it off as his voice just grates at me. He just creeps me. He has that smarmy smile and talks like a used car salesman trying to sell you a lemon of a car. But I really didn't want this post to be about him.

Because tonight was a good night that keeps on giving me that hope for a positive future....Obama for President!

Unbelievable

Michael sent me 2 links this morning that are just unbelievable....

The first Women in jeans cannot be raped

And then like the last line of the little commentary on this video says....
"While there’s no profanity in this clip, this is some of the most offensive language you’ll ever hear."
It is a state rep for Oklahoma saying some absolutely horrible things about gays and lesbians.

Both just make me sick....I don't get how people can believe the things they do...such hateful things.
